Location: Thatcher Hall
Hours: Part-Time, Hourly (Hours: 8a-3p Monday-Thursday 8a-noon Friday)
Pay: $18.33 - $24.64
Job Summary: Perform managerial/secretarial work of a complex nature for the Residence Hall Staff general office functions and any required, related work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs all duties related to residents checking in and out of the residence hall and Southern Village (distributes and collects appropriate forms, gives card access to rooms, provides mailbox combinations, etc.).
- Be familiar with housing process (moves, check-in/check-out, etc.)
- Work with Administrative Dean to post miscellaneous charges on student accounts for unpaid fines, storage charges, etc. Collects fees for visitors.
- Working knowledge of computers and able to learn new programs.
- Helps coordinate mail service for Thatcher, Thatcher South, and Southern Village. Assists in locating missing packages. Forwards mail for residence halls and Southern Village weekly.
- Keep up with petty cash transactions.
- Hires and maintains a staff of student office workers
- Processes payroll for student workers and ensures student workers’ hours are accurate each week and approves their time by 10a each Monday (student deans, resident assistants and desk workers).
- Maintains proper use and function of office machines.
- Responsible for scheduling residence hall space (Thatcher Chapel. White Oak Room, etc)
- Coordinates residence hall tours with Campus Visits.
- Performs all other reasonable business functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prefer previous experience in office management.
- BS/BA preferred.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, residents, parents and the general public.
- Practice confidentiality of information at all times.
- Knowledge of data entry and word processing skills using Microsoft Office programs.
- Be a self-starter and able to work without supervision.
- Must possess good organizational skills.
- Have a desire to grow professionally, including a willingness to learn new computer systems and procedures.
- Be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Special Requirements: Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and a SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone and other office equipment. Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
