Plumbing Master Technician - Plant Services

Hours: Full-Time, Hourly
Pay: $24.52 - $30.65

Job Summary:  The plumber will perform plumbing installations/repairs and other jobs related to the maintenance, renovation or construction of campus facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be involved in day to day plumbing maintenance of the campus facilities
  • Works toward bringing campus facilities up to current building code requirements
  • Troubleshoots electrical controls associated with water heaters and boilers
  • Designs and lays out plumbing systems
  • Installs fixtures, piping, boilers, water heaters
  • Repairs leaks in plumbing systems
  • Replaces aging pipes
  • Performs all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned

Special Requirements:  Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and be a SDA church member in good and regular standing.
 
Qualifications:  Must have a minimum of a journeymen plumber’s license.  Must have knowledge of how to perform other maintenance and preventive maintenance functions. Basic computer skills required.  Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.  Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license with reasonable driving record.

Education and Experience: A minimum of a high school diploma. College or trade school education preferred.  A minimum of five years of experience in working as a plumber with varied experience in maintenance tasks.

Skills and Aptitudes: Interpersonal relationship skills essential, with ability to work with other employees in a team spirit, and the ability to interact appropriately with personnel (faculty and students) on job sites is required.  Have safety-consciousness and able to promote it within work force.  Must use care with tools and equipment.

Physical Demands:  Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and driving university vehicles.  May require lifting up to 100 pounds.  Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions:   Working conditions may present abnormal temperatures (attics and crawl spaces) and/or humidity.  Work areas are normally well ventilated and lit, but a portable light and fan may be necessary.  May be contacted after normal business hours, on weekends, or holidays for work needs.
