Job Summary: The Faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in both undergraduate and graduate education. In addition, the successful applicant will participate in academic advisement of education majors, and the responsibilities of the department including CAEP, NAD, and state accreditation processes. This faculty member will work closely with external stakeholders for partnership work, field experiences, and initiatives such as the Aspiring Teachers Clubs.
Qualifications:
● Hold an earned doctoral degree in education
● Have 3+ years experience teaching (preferably recent) in a K-12 setting within the United States and come highly recommended as a K-12 educator
● Be capable of teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate education courses
● Possess experience with accreditation work
● Possess strong organizational skills
● Possess knowledge of the Education program
● Be a team player with written and verbal communication skills
● Possess a high degree of technological proficiency, capable of using Google Suite, databases, and university platforms used to track student recruitment and progress
Duties:
● Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate education courses, which may be face-to-face, hybrid, or fully online
● Advise and mentor students (academic, spiritual, and career)
● Collaborate with partners and stakeholders at public and private schools
● Contribute to accreditation work for CAEP, the state of Tennessee, and the North American Division of SDAs
● Sponsor student clubs, tours/trips, and special projects
● Nurture a culture of collaboration within the School of Education, Psychology, & Counseling and across the university
● Participate in department and university committees
● Other duties as assigned
Special Requirements: A strongly expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
