Associate Vice President for Facilities - Financial Administration

Hours: Full-Time, Salary

Job Summary: The Associate Vice President for Facilities assists in supervising and directing the university's financial operations and oversees plant operations, campus facility maintenance, and all property holdings, including projects assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the Financial Administration’s representative to the following departments:
                        a.  Architectural Services
                        b.  Landscape Services
                        c.  Transportation Services
                        d.  Plant Services
                        e.  Service Department
                        f.  Faculty/Staff Housing Rentals
                        g. New Construction - Management
                        h. Campus Renovations - Management
                        i.  Campus Utilities
                        j.  University Land Assets, over 1,300 Acres
  • Provides leadership on campus planning, project development, and financial supervision of all construction projects on campus
  • Oversees the management of plant operations and maintenance
  • Liaison with local and state officials on issues relating to campus facilities
  • Provides leadership and planning for the Campus Facilities Master Plan
  • Provides supervision and leadership with all land management and campus trail systems
  • Serves on standing and ad hoc committees as assigned.
  • Oversees preparing and monitoring budgets, strategic plans, and assessments for the above departments.
  • Performs annual performance evaluations for the directors of the above departments.
  • Prepares reports and information related to physical plant issues for administrative and governing groups.
  • Performs all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned by the Senior Vice President for Financial Administration.  
Special Requirements: An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and a Seventh-day Adventist Church member in good and regular standing.     

Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s degree in business or related area. A minimum of five years of successful experience in financial and/or facilities areas. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Have computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word software. The ability to cultivate positive working relationships with superiors and subordinates.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require
lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office
machines such as computers, calculators, and telephone.  Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions:  Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
