Website Development Manager - Marketing and University Relations

Hours: Full-Time, Salary

Job Summary: 
The website development manager works closely with the director of Marketing and University Relations and website design manager to create and implement the strategy and goals for the university website. This position requires a high level of proficiency in full-stack development and website architecture and the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop compelling website features, including front-end programming of designed elements and template implementation within the content management system
  • Partner with the website design manager to refine the overall look and functionality of the university website and shape its strategic development and creative direction
  • Ensure the university website successfully incorporates Southern’s key messages, brand, and visual identity
  • Evaluate and implement innovative ideas and technologies for the university website and other interactive media
  • Coordinate periodic functionality and accessibility improvements for the website and maintain knowledge of the university’s website update needs
  • Collaborate with Information Technology for web server maintenance and app development
  • Evaluate and refine existing web workflow processes, as necessary, to ensure best practices
  • Hire, supervise, and mentor student web developers
  • Proactively develop interactive elements to improve perceptions of the university
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Marketing and University Relations team and other campus departments to develop and maintain website features that further the mission of the university
  • Contract with freelancers to assist with workflow when necessary
  • Provide support to university website content editors
  • Perform special assignments as requested
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • The ability to design the overall architecture of the university website as well as maintain quality and ensure responsiveness and accessibility of web applications
  • Proven organization skills and the ability to maintain code integrity
  • Experience working with designers and converting designs to visual elements
  • Proficient experience with back-end (PHP, node.js) programming languages
  • Highly experienced using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Vue and React
  • Experience working within an enterprise content management system
  • Development experience for both mobile and desktop
Special Requirements: An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and an Adventist church member in good and regular standing. 

Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. It may require lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, and telephones. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. The work area is well lit and ventilated.
