Software Developer - Information Technology

JOB SUMMARY: The Software Developer is responsible for designing computer-based solutions to business needs, which includes analyzing, planning, designing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining computerized systems and realigning the current Ellucian Colleague integration into an out-of-the-box, cloud-safe solution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designs, develops, and maintains front-end components for web applications using React and other modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Work closely with back-end developers and stakeholders to integrate APIs and ensure robust and secure data interaction.
  • Works as a team to design and implement integrated, computer-based solutions.
  • Supports users with training, program maintenance, and technical support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science is preferred, but a bachelor’s degree in another field with five years of programming experience is acceptable.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Friendly and patient attitude when working with non-technical users.
  • Comfortable with database and preferably mobile development.
  • Ability to work in a structured, team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and preferably Ellucian Ethos Integration.
  • Knowledge of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and front-end testing tool.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS3, and related libraries.
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching, as well as lifting up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity efficient enough to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment is required. Efficient hearing and vision enough to complete the essential duties of the job with or without limited reasonable accommodations are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. The work area is well-lit and ventilated.
