Job Summary: The Adventure Program (AP) Director will assist in providing quality Outdoor Leadership (OL) laboratory experiences through the Adventure Program, while building greater community connections and generating a positive revenue stream. The AP Director will also continue to develop a vibrant Southern Outdoor Adventure Program (SOAP) to connect students and employees to their Creator through nature.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct all SOAP and AP activities
- Maintain AP/OL/SOAP gear and facilities
- Build new connections with the community locally and beyond while maintaining connections already established both locally and in other states
- Increase the annual revenue to cover the cost of the AP Director position
- Book, staff, and bill for all adventure programming events, including:
- Environmental education programming
- Adventure programming
- SOAP events
- Perform all other reasonable business-related functions as assigned
- Oversee Risk Management of all areas of responsibility
- Responsible for training staff and in-service training
- Responsible for emergencies during program events (including during travel)
- Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Attend all mandatory staff and department meetings
Special Requirements: Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church, and an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
- Must have a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.
- Must practice confidentiality of information at all times.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certifications in ropes course, rope technician, First aid/CPR/AED, and Wilderness First Responder.
- A minimum of 2 years leading adventure programming events or outdoor education.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 80 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and physical strength. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under all conditions, with varying temperatures.
