Job Summary:The director of housekeeping and maintenance supervises the activities of approximately 40 student workers for Thatcher Hall and Thatcher South and performs and arranges for maintenance needs to be met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates with Plant Services and Director of Residence Life for major maintenance projects;
Hires and trains student workers and does performance evaluations on each periodically;
Coordinates student staff work schedules;
Orders supplies as needed through the Service Department;
Provides recycling services;
Coordinates pest control services;
Monthly shower checks;
Notifies Director of Residence Life of the need for new items or of those needing replacement, including furnishings.
Coordinates with Plant Services to repair equipment in the women’s residence hall;
Performs all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned.
Special Requirements:An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Two to five years supervising employees. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Be a self-starter and able to work without supervision and must possess good organizational skills.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires climbing stairs, sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions:Essential tasks are performed under normal residence hall conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is usually well lighted and ventilated.
