Exterior Building Maintenance Technician - Plant Service

Hours: Full-Time, Hourly
Pay: $20.42 - $26.56

Job Summary: The Exterior Building Maintenance Technician takes primary responsibility for the repairs needed on the exterior of campus buildings, including roofs, masonry, siding, windows and doors. (Painting is done by the paint department.)

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Repairs roof leaks
  • Maintains roof drains and gutters by inspection and cleaning
  • Maintains caulking on windows, doors and other penetrations through roofs or walls Repairs windows that malfunction
  • Repairs masonry as needed
  • Operates fork lift, man lifts and other heavy equipment as needed Does carpentry repairs and construction as needed
  • Is able to lay up manholes
  • Does small concrete projects
  • Performs al other reasonably business-related functions as assigned
Special Requirements: Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and be an SDA church member in good and regular standing.

Qualifications: Basic computer skills required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently, with ability to communicate effectively. Must hold a valid U.S. driver's license with reasonable driving record.

Education and Experience: Minimum of a high school diploma. Must be experienced in the construction and maintenance of commercial buildings. Some special training will be required for our type ofroof systems.

Skills and Aptitudes: Interpersonal relationship skills essential with ability to work with other employees in a team spirit. The technician must have the ability to interact appropriately with personnel (faculty and students) on job sites. Have safety-consciousness and able to promote it within the work force. Must use care with tools and equipment.

Physical Demands: This job calls for a variety of postures; squatting, bending, standing, looking up, reaching away from the body, standing on uneven surfaces, and working on a ladder, scaffold and man lift. The technician must be able to work under these conditions for extended periods oftime and must be able to lift, on
a consistent basis, up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed primarily outdoors under various weather conditions and in non-conditioned construction environments. May be contacted after normal business hours, on weekends, or holidays for work needs.
