Teaching Faculty - School of Business

Job Summary: The primary focus of the faculty member will be teaching accounting in the business core and major emphasis courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, drawing on industry experience in the for-profit sector to bring course content to life. Additional core faculty responsibilities include academic advising and service that contributes to the mission of the department and university.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Hold an earned doctorate degree in accounting; or a doctoral degree in a related field with a master’s degree in accounting (i.e. MAcc or MSA)
  • Active CPA, CMA, CIA, or CGMA licensure or certification
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in the for-profit sector in either corporate or public accounting
  • Evidence of ability to work as part of an effective team as a leader or follower
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal communication skills and desire to positively contribute to a collegial environment and organizational goals
  • Commitment to teach assigned courses from a Biblical worldview
  • Commitment to integrate Christian faith and biblical principles as reflected in Seventh-day Adventist beliefs teaching in personal conduct and interactions both in and out of the classroom

Duties:
  • Cultivate an environment conducive to student spiritual growth, learning readiness, and effective advising (spiritual, academic, career). 
  • Prepare curriculum and teach undergraduate accounting courses that build foundational accounting knowledge, skills, and competencies applicable to all business majors
  • Prepare curriculum and teach undergraduate accounting major emphasis courses that build advanced accounting knowledge, skills, and competencies and prepares students to confidently enter the accounting profession
  • Facilitate learning experiences outside of the classroom that contribute to career readiness, industry networking, and placement for internships or full-time positions after graduation
  • Prepare curriculum and teach one or more graduate level accounting course for the students in the MBA program
  • Provide timely feedback to students (e.g. grading, recording keeping, email communication)
  • Actively participate in departmental and university co-curricular activities including but not limited to committee membership and responsibilities, club sponsorships, and departmental functions throughout the academic year
  • Positively contribute to scholarly and professional engagement in the department and across campus
  • Other duties as assigned

Special Requirements: Must have a strongly expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing.
