Wright Hall Lobby Receptionist - Enrollment Management

Job Summary
The Wright Hall Lobby Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for Southern Adventist University, welcoming campus guests, residents, faculty, and staff. This role is essential in creating a warm and engaging atmosphere while addressing general inquiries in person and over the phone. Additionally, the receptionist provides administrative support to Enrollment Management. Maintaining a friendly, professional, and service-oriented demeanor is key to success in this role.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create a Welcoming Environment
    • Serve as the lobby host, remaining physically and mentally present to foster a warm and professional atmosphere.
    • Actively engage with guests, students, and staff to identify and meet their needs.
    • Maintain a polished and professional appearance at all times.
  • Reception & Communication
    • Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls through the university’s main phone line, providing basic information when needed.
    • Greet visitors, assess their needs, and assist or direct them accordingly.
    • Notify appropriate courier delivery recipients (via call, IM, or email).
  • Administrative Support
    • Assist in maintaining the prospective student communication designation in company CRM (Slate) accurately and efficiently.
    • Support the execution of ViewSouthern, PreviewSouthern, and other enrollment events.
    • Provide backup support to the Call Center Manager as needed.
    • Work with Enrollment Management to enhance team collaboration and effectiveness.
  • Facility & Safety Maintenance
    • Ensure the lobby and public areas of Wright Hall remain clean, organized, and welcoming.
    • Monitor and maintain a safe environment for all visitors and staff.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated excellence in guest service and interpersonal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Professional demeanor with sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable, seamlessly transitioning between in-person and phone-based interactions.

Work Hours
  • Up to 25 hours per week, typically half-day shifts.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends are required for special events, with shifts distributed among the receptionist team.

Education & Experience
  • A high school diploma is required; an associate's degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience in receptionist, administrative, or customer service roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to practice empathetic listening and maintain a customer-focused approach.
