Job Duties:
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials to students in various fine art and art foundation courses.
• Perform duties associated with documenting student progress on a timely basis, including grading and required record keeping in accordance with university guidelines.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills in order to teach assigned courses in a well-prepared manner.
• Collaborate in development and oversight of sculpture studio and curriculum, including maintaining a safe working environment and managing equipment and supplies.
• Participate in co-curricular department and university activities, including, but not limited to, committee membership, club sponsorships, and official department functions.
• Mentor and nurture students with a compassionate Christlike spirit, for the purpose of supporting and encouraging them academically and spiritually.
• Appropriately integrate Christian faith and biblical principles as reflected in Seventh-day Adventist beliefs in course content and by personal interactions with students and colleagues.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess an MFA degree and demonstrate exceptional artistic skill and craftsmanship, along with the ability to teach a spectrum of foundation and fine art classes. Specialization in three-dimensional media with knowledge of traditional and contemporary approaches is preferred. A record of professional achievement is required, such as exhibitions, publications, commissions, etc. A knowledge of art history, theory and emerging trends within the fine arts is expected. The successful candidate will be committed to mentoring advisees, nurturing student learning both in and out of the classroom, and discipling students in Jesus Christ.
Special Requirements: Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ and the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and be an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, calculators, telephone and other office equipment. Additional physical demands are dependent upon curriculum and may include use of power tools, loading and unloading ceramic kilns, and other area specific requirements.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
