CK2 Shift Supervisor - Food Service

Hours: Temporary Part-Time, Hourly
Start Date: January 2025

Job Summary:   The CK2 Shift Supervisor will have the primary responsibility of assisting and supporting the CK2 Manager oversee and execute the entire operation. In addition to promoting the mission of Southern Adventist University, this position is expected to oversee a profitable venue that serves our students healthy and tasty food options.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check and maintain high standards of food preparation and service
  • Instruct and maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in all areas
  • Oversee a team of 10-15 student workers, ensuring adherence to university policies, Foodservice policies, county health regulations, and CK2 policies
  • Coordinate with CK2 Manager with motivating, counseling and disciplining of student employees when necessary
  • Delegate tasks to students, assigning them to stations and ensuring productivity
  • Be prepared and willing to work in any station to maintain efficiency
  • Learning/Operate/Oversee Cashiering
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering and reporting any shortages
  • Keep all equipment in working order, coordinating with CK2 Manager as necessary
  • Fill in for absentees
  • Maintain communication log with observations from your shift
  • Perform all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned
  • Responsible for stocking incoming orders
  • Responsible for cleaning/refilling of fryers
  • Involved/Overseeing daily prepping of Grab n Go

 
Special Requirements:  An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing.  Able to have a good rapport with employees – especially students.

Education and Experience:  A minimum of a high school diploma.  College or trade school education preferred.  A minimum of 2 years experience in Food Service.  Supervision and management experience necessary.

Qualifications:  Ability to communicate effectively.  Must be a self starter who displays neatness, cleanliness, and organizational skills and has the ability to motivate others to do the same.  Personality should include approachable, friendly, positive attitude, able to encourage others.

Skills and Aptitudes:  Have a working knowledge of food service operations, computer skills.  Interpersonal relationship skills essential with ability to work with employees with a team spirit, the ability to interact appropriately with campus personnel.  Have safety-consciousness and promote within work force.

Typical Physical Demands:  Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching.  May require lifting up to 50 pounds.  (If over 40 pounds please ask for help) Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators and telephone.  Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions:  Essential tasks are performed under normal food service conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort.  The work area is well lighted and ventilated.
